The Winter Hothouse Layered Look: Climbing Orchid and Fresh Florals

It’s winter, and whenever I think back to my childhood, I think about visiting the steamy greenhouses at the Rockefeller Park Greenhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. My favorite room was the one filled with a soft carpet of Baby’s Tears – I can still smell the fresh, damp air whenever I think about the gorgeous flowers in the hot house.  I even found a photo online – thanks to Jax Stumpes for capturing this memory (although I remember it from a few decades ago).

If you’ve never been there, you should consider checking out this garden. I don’t think it’s changed too much in the last few decades. The garden its just a little bit outside of time. And it’s free, so you’ve got nothing to lose :) Here’s the TripAdvisor link for details: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g50207-d527278-Reviews-Rockefeller_Park_Greenhouse-Cleveland_Ohio.html

Here’s a picture from TripAdvisor that looks just like the ones in my memories – so many generations of little feet have teetered down that walkway!

Rockefeller Park Greenhouse – Cleveland, Ohio

But of course whenever I think of greenhouse flowers, orchids are right there at the top of my list. Fortunately these pretty stamped images are easy to create and easy to maintain!

This card uses the Climbing Orchid stamp set – with no fuss. The other day I posted another card idea that features the orchid set without the matching Climbing Orchid Framelits Dies. While I do love the dies (check this project that features the die cut blooms), sometimes it’s nice to make a card without a Big Shot (heretic, I know).

The video tutorial will show how I placed the blooms and the stalks to build the branch of orchids.
