Technique Tutorial: Inked & Inverted Embossing with Smitten Mitten and the Winter Wonder Embossing Folder

Did you love the idea of a Mini Pizza Box decorated with mittens and snowflakes? Last month my project was black and white and red – but this one is set with softer snow colors, perfect for a fun technique tutorial, and good for frosty weather through the rest of the winter.

Be sure to order right away though, since the Smitten Mitten stamp set and many of these supplies are about to retire on January 2! (see the retiring list online)

Grab your favorite embossing folder for the Big Shot, plus an ink pad, and I’ll teach you how to combine them for a fun Inked Inverted Embossing project.

Inked and Impressed Embossing Folder Technique

  1. Press ink pad directly onto one side of an Embossing Folder – usually the ‘debossed’ side, so that ink coats the background but not the embossed image.
  2. Place your card stock (or Mini Pizza Box) in the folder and run through the Big Shot as usual.
  3. Use a Sponge Brayer to add ink around edges of pizza box where folder may not have reached.
