You know we’re ticking down to the holidays, so my gift for you today is sweet, simple and OH SO FUN to create! Did you know you can take any DSP and make a custom gift bag? You’ll need two pieces of DSP the same size, and I’ll teach you how to score and assemble these sweet treats. Plus Happy Hibiscus is getting a makeover with this brayered embossing folder technique.
First the directions for the box:
How to Make a DIY Custom Christmas Gift Bag (the the Quickest & Cutest Way!!)
- Start with two pieces of 6×6 DSP (Take A Bow is perfect here!).
- Score at 1″ from the top of each, and 1 1/2″ from the other three sides of each.
- Fold along all the score lines as shown, then pinch the bottom two corners of each section to make a right angle.
- Glue those triangles to the side or bottom (join the debate on which is better lol).
- Finally nest the two halves of the bag one inside the other and glue.
I like Multipurpose Liquid Glue the best because it allows for moving the bag pieces just a tiny bit to get everything aligned.
Finally, the tag is created with a Granny Apple Green circle die cut (Spotlight on Nature dies) and layered with the Happy Hibiscus hybrid embossing folder. For a simple inked flower, you can use the technique I shared previously OR you can use a brayer to ink the embossing folder itself, then die cut so the ink presses into the embossed print.
