You Asked For It – I ANT Lying! Fun Fold Card, Stampin’ Up!® Cute As A Bug Suite Collection

With all the new stamps, papers and embellishments released on Tuesday, my most requested suite has been Cute As A Bug – complete with papers, stick-on ladybug epoxy embellishments and coordinating Old Olive Trim. So today I’m sharing a variation on a fun fold theme – a Stand Up Pop Up Card that’s oh so easy, and OH SO CUTE – one might even say, cute as a bug ;) (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself).

The cutting for this card is simple – then add on the die cut bug characters (they’re straight out of the DSP, no coloring required) and a die cut greeting (thank you Stylish Shapes Dies for always coming in clutch).

Center Fold Pop Up Panel Easel Card

• Card Base: 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
• Pop Up Center Strip: 3 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 2-1/8″ and 4 1/4″
• DSP center panel: 3″ x 4″
• Basic White inside panel: 3″ x 4″

Note that the Cute As A Bug Suite Collection isn’t available for ordering at the moment – because the Ladybug Garden Epoxy Shapes are out of stock. No worries though – the rest of the suite is available and those cute ladybugs are due back later this winter, as soon as the week of January 19. The card version below doesn’t have the Easel Card extra score line (I wish I’d thought of it when i made this sample version!). But it would be easy to add the extra score line next time. This card uses more of the papers from the Cute As A Bug Designer Series Paper.

A couple of fun technique tips that are great with the Cute As A Bug Suite Collection: first, the toadstool dies can be used alone – like the Crushed Curry sample on the left. OR the cap dies can be used to create cute toppers for the mushrooms – like the version on the right.

Another GREAT technique tip, which I learned from the card swap sent to me by demonstrator Kim Peck, is to use the Old Olive Specialty Rick Rack as an edge piece, rather than just a piece of ribbon. I LOVE the way the scallops show with this trick!

Finally, be sure to note how many of the Cute As A Bug critters, florals and toadstools can be die cut with the Sweet Bugs Dies — SOOO many!
