Try a Hot Trend with These Tips: DSP Card Base

Simple message, simple design: a DSP Card Base lets the pretty paper do the hard design work for us, like with this feature greeting from the Under My Umbrella stamp set, paired with the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper. 

If you haven’t seen one of my (many) DSP Card Base projects yet, the basic idea is that instead of folding a piece of cardstock in half to make the card base, the card base is created from a folded piece of Designer Series Paper.

A couple of tips for your DSP Card Base creations:

• Cut your DSP to 4″ x 12″ and score at 5 1/2″ and 11″ to make a regular sized card. You’ll save paper because you can get 3 cards from a sheet of DSP, plus you’ll have the extra 1″ to fold inside (as here) or to the front (which I also love). That extra inch stabilizes the card front and adds a design element.
• Cut an inside layer from Whisper White (3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″) and adhere inside the card. This stabilizes the back of the card and gives you a place to stamp more or add your greetings.
• Place a design layer across the front of your card to add stability to the card front. If the element is wide or large, it will add more heft to the front of your card.
