The (Not So) Secret Magic of 3×4: Whale of a Time Designer Paper

Puns and bling… what else could this ‘under the sea’ collection need to be perfect? The Whale of a Time Suite Collection is hands-down my favorite for June, which is why I’m featuring it for my June LovenStamps Monthly Card Tutorials, LovenStamps Card Kits “To Go” and videos here on my blog.

The detail in this Seabed 3D embossing folder is fabulous – corals, sea spray and sea plants that give a terrific overall image of ocean and the movement of the sea.

And the Whale of a Time 6×6″ Designer Series Paper includes a variety of delightful patterns – both busy like this seabed scene pattern, and subtle prints, like the waves or ocean water print I shared the other day.

The Magic of 3×4 DSP Cards

No matter how you cut it though, the magic of 3″ x 4″ paper pieces will both simplify your card design and extend your Designer Series Paper supply. Really? Sound magical? It kinda is. Here’s a WHOLE LovenStamps collection of 3″ x 4″ DSP card ideas.

When you cut your Designer Series Paper layer to 3″ x 4″, you’ve got a ready-made central card layer, perfect for matting with a coordinating cardstock cut to 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″. And when your paper starts out at 6″ x 6″, (like with the Whale of a Time 6×6″ Designer Series Paper) plan ahead on your cutting and you’ll end up with a 2″ x 6″ strip plus two of these magical 3×4″ pieces.

The 2″ x 6″ strip is the PERFECT size to cut down for a strip-y designer series paper card like the one I shared recently. Plus you can take that 1/2″ leftover piece and use it to mat your greeting, as I did in the turtle card.
