No aquariums or squid hats today — but we did have some fun adventures and see some fabulous stamping ideas! Plus we got an all-attendee giveaways, several Prize Patrols, plus had the chance to relax and stamp with friends and try out some of the fabulous new kits and products from the Occasions Catalog. Have you checked it out yet??
The morning opened with some fabulous coaching from Pat Pearson. I can’t wait to get home and share with my LovenStampfuls team and put all the ideas I heard into practice.
Then more break-out classes — great topics and terrific presenters!
Lunch today was the Advisory Board alumni reception, held at the absolutely stunning Grove Restaurant in the park across the street from the convention center.
Isn’t this place amazing? I felt like we had lunch in the middle of an Architectural Digest issue!
Catching up with friends is one of my most favorite activities at Leadership. We see each other only a few times a year – so it’s a busy lunch to catch up with all the family news and latest stories.
I swapped my last few swap cards!
And by mid-afternoon it was time for some serious caffeine assisted energy!
If you’re ever in Houston, I highly recommend the Market Bar restaurant inside the Phoenicia grocery store. Yum! I had Chilean Sea Bass with a side of grilled black kale. Yum, I’m getting hungry thinking about it again!
Plus it’s always a blast to sit around and rehash our days and favorite moments, plus the take-home points from all our favorite classes. The chance to share what inspired me is sometimes a great way to reinforce my intention to try something new or different.
And speaking of different, how about ice skating outdoors when it’s 65 degrees outside!!?? The ICE at Discovery Green is right outside the convention center. You might remember that I broke my leg ice skating last February (and ruined my favorite jeans!) but the good news is that I’ve skated several times at home this winter, so this wasn’t my first time ‘back on the horse’!
Discovery Green is completely beautiful, especially at night. These giant balloons over the pathway are illuminated to great effect.
Then it was back to the Convention center for Make N Takes. Each spot had one of these sweet tote bags, complete with packets for some of the Make N Take projects.
Wahoo!! Celebration when we heard of the evening’s all-attendee giveaway!
Here’s the first of the make n takes — from the Happenings Simply Created Card Kit (133329). All the pieces for this card are in the kit (plus supplies to make 14 more cards — 15 total), and the cost is $14.95. Pretty nice! You can use stamps you have on hand, or this Thanks & Hello stamp set (131459).
There were some incredible demonstrations (sorry for the fuzzy pix — I’ll have to get some close-ups tomorrow!).
And here’s the Vivid Vases (133818) card we made after the watercolor lesson.
My friend Carol Walsh won a Prize Patrol (love the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper (132994)). Doesn’t she look excited??
And we wrapped up with some sweet tags using the geometric patterned suite — Kaleidoscope (check it out)!
I had to laugh as we were leaving at the end of the day. I had just told a friend that I wasn’t too confident about whether I liked the contemporary feel of the geometrics and the Kaleidoscope Product Suite.
Then as we walked out, a kind lady complimented me on my dress, and said she was impressed that I’d embraced the geometric trend so thoroughly. Huh. My dress was geometric? Well how about that!? Guess I didn’t realize how much it turns out that I DO like this suite!! So bring it on — I’m all about the geometric trend now.
It was a FULL day — from early to late, but packed with fun! Can’t wait to see what all we get to see and hear tomorrow — be sure to come back for my last updates! Did you miss a day already? Be sure to check out my other Leadership blog posts.
Happy Stamping!
