Sail Away: Split Negative Technique

Looking for a ‘guy’ card this summer?  Here is a great technique to highlight a stamped image in black and white: Split Negative.  The Sail Away stamp (see it online) is a perfect line drawing style for this technique.

This sample used Black and White, but any high-contrast color combination will work.

  1. Cut one piece of white and one back to the same size of the wood block for your stamp.
  2. Use Versamark to stamp onto black, lining wood block with corner of card stock.  Emboss with White Powder.
  3. Repeat on White card stock, except emboss with Black Powder.
  4. Cut both pieces of card stock in half, and recombine with opposite color for ‘split’ effect.  Mat with opposite color card stock.
