Pumpkin EXPLOSION – a Fun Fold Card with Stampin’ Up!®’s Painted Patch Suite Collection

What’s better than a pretty painted pumpkin? Why, a whole patch of Painted Pumpkins, of course! Today’s Fun Fold Card is an Explosion Card – perfect for using a 6×6 piece of Designer Series Paper (which of course would be perfect to make with the DSP samples included in the LovenStamps DSP Share – details below). But today’s version features the Painted Patch Designer Series Paper along with the coordinating Painted Pumpkin stamps, dies and decorative masks.

A couple of special tips – when you mount your pumpkin stamps, consider doing them on one large block (the F size of Clear Acrylic Blocks) so that you can lay the mask on both pumpkin trios at the same time – be sure to check the video for details. This will be a time saver, and a simple way to create 6 pumpkins in custom colors to match your card.

Another tip – the Explosion Card mechanism is easy to fold. Start with a + sign scored on your 6×6 DSP, then add a diagonal score. Fold the + score lines down (valley fold) and fold the diagonal score up (mountain fold). Bring the mountain tips together and the explosion insert will fold itself. Key tip – glue both sides and place inside the card base all at once, then close and allow the glue to grab. This ensures that the card will close properly when finished.

Finally, when adding pumpkins to the Explosion Card, keep in mind where the pieces will travel if you glue something near the diagonal fold line. If an element crosses the fold, it could stop the card from closing properly if it competes with another element on the diagonal fold. Place elements and then test fold to be sure everything works before final glue is applied.
