Ever sit down to make a project and feel “Stamper’s Block” take over? No, this has nothing to do with the new Clear Mount stamp sets ;-) Stamper’s Block is when your mind goes blank and you can’t think of a project to create.
When I can’t quite come up with an idea that I like, my favorite resource is one of the Stampin’ Up! catalogs. Ever notice that they’re called “Idea Books”? There’s a good reason for that!
Here’s what I do: I flip through one of the catalogs until I find a card idea that uses stamps of a similar size & shape to the set I wanted to use. I also look for a layout that can easily be adapted to the paper supplies I have on hand.
The card to the right is an example–it’s straight from the Occasions Mini Catalog, created by the fabulous artists at Stampin’ Up!
The samples above are the 2 versions of the Stampin’ Up! card that I used as Make N Take projects at workshops in early and late February. The card to the right is the closest to the sample, and features the same stamp and punch as in the original idea. The card to the left features a Sale-A-Bration stamp set, Happy Moments, as well as the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch.
But both cards have the same elements as the original sample:
- Rounded top right corner
- Designer Series Paper on the bottom half
- Strip of cardstock above the Designer Series Paper
- Another narrow strip of cardstock as a design element
- Ribbon on the left side
So next time you’re feeling unsure about what to stamp, give it a try–go through your latest Stampin’ Up! catalog and find a card layout that fits the stamps and supplies you have on hand.
You’ll find your Stamper’s Block evaporating in a few turns of the page!
