Monochromatic with Prized Peony: Let the Details Take Center Stage

For the last couple of catalogs, I’ve been falling in love with the detailed beauty of some of the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets. The new Prized Peony set fits right into that select group of stamp sets that feature exquisitely gorgeous detail. Don’t you think? In fact, it’s so pretty that I don’t think the flowers even need color. So here’s my monochromatic Peony Garden Suite card – featuring the Designer Series Paper, new Square Vellum Doilies and Elegant Faceted Gems.

Add a different greeting and the Prized Peony set would be gorgeous for wedding or anniversary cards.

So pretty the way the elements all come together!

And because I couldn’t choose one side or the other of this pretty paper, I decided to go with a #DSPCardBase layout. (Check out my other DSP Card Base projects.) Not familiar with this design yet? They’re pretty simple. The idea is to replace the usual cardstock card base with Designer Series Paper. Usually I cut my DSP to 4″ x 12″ and then score at 5 1/2″ and 11″ to create the 1″ flap that folds back on the front.

See? With a DSP card base, both sides of the paper get to shine – one on the front and one on the inside. Plus the pretty scalloped edge border (both die cut and embossed with one die) fits perfectly at the bottom edge of the inside card layer.
