MEGA Techniques – Puzzle Piece Resist + Hot Foil with Stampin’ Up!®’s Inked Floret Stamp

I was cleaning my studio closet recently (a big shocker, if you know me!) and came across one of my Stamp Club Technique Cards…from 2013. This Puzzle Piece Resist Technique seemed like the perfect way to show off the gorgeous Inked Floret stamp – currently part of the Stamp-tacular Flash Sale (only through tomorrow). Pick your colors, but I’m ready for fall with these autumn ombre Blended tones, puzzle pieced together with the new Scalloped Cheer Christmas Dies.

Several great stamping tricks included in this tutorial: first, create custom colored embellishments with Stampin’ Blends Markers. The gold dots didn’t match my copper accents, so I used the Blackberry Bliss Stampin Blend Marker to color them coppery.

Next, when you’re running multiple dies through at the same time (like with these Scalloped Cheer Christmas Dies), it’s a good idea to tape the nested dies together. If one of the dies jumps, it can ruin the cutting surface by layering on top of another die (oh so sad). Best to just grab the washi tape for extra insurance.

Finally, when heat embossing, be sure the Versamark Pad is really really juicy. The best results with the WOW Metallic Embossing Powder come when the cardstock is prepped with the Embossing Buddy, and the Versamark is juicy enough to hold a really nice coating of the embossing powder.

Be sure to check your stamp supplies for large bold stamps like the Inked Floret – available right now (through Friday) as part of the Stamp-tacular Sale (15% off selected stamps). Be sure to consider different orientations of the puzzle piece dies – as well as clear embossing powder.
