Make Card Design Work for You: Varied Vases and the Vases Builder Punch

One of the most common comments I hear from stampers is about how much trouble people have with designing a card. I understand! Believe me, sometimes I struggle with card ideas, too. But with a few layout tips, it’s simple to come up with a creation that you’ll love.

Simple Steps to Stamping

  1. Stamp
  2. Layer
  3. Embellish

Sounds simple, right? Believe it or not, this is the plan that I use when designing cards. Now arranging those stamped and layered pieces on a card front, that can be an added tricky step.

My next secret is to create a Focal Point. A focal point gives your eye something to see first. It’s the main image and usually the one that gets the layers. For this card, the focal point is the set of two vases from the Varied Vases stamp set. I’ve layered them on a white circle, and then on a scalloped Lovely Lipstick circle, and further added layers with the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper and the strip with the greeting.

Want to see the card come together? I’ve got a few more placement tricks and tips for you on how to get the vases where you want them, and a crucial tip on how to get that scallop stamp STRAIGHT on your block (instead of curving all over).
