I Want to Stamp! How Do I Start?

I just received a delightful email from a new stamping friend.  She discovered me on Pinterest and can’t wait to get started with her new hobby.  I  know she’s not the only “newbie” to stamping out there, so thought I’d share my response to her, in case it might be helpful to other new stampers out there!

Dear New Stamping Friend,

Welcome card making and Pinterest!!  So here’s my warning – both may become slightly addictive…although in a good, happy crafting/sharing kind of way ;)  So much fun!

Yes, you can definitely place an order – I’m happy to help you.  There are a number of really outstanding project kits available – and depending on what your interests, I would be happy to help guide you to the right ones for you.

The all-purpose cards that I’m in love with right now are in the Tin of Cards project kit.  It’s $27 and has pre-cut supplies to make 16 cards (4 each of 4 designs).  You’ll want to add a stamp set and ink pad and adhesive if you don’t already have them.  But the great thing about this kit is that all the embellishments and design work are included.  Click here to take a look

There’s even a little video to watch that features the kit – I think you’ll love it!

The stamp set you want to get is called Tin of Cards (#138946 – $17) and I’d get the Black Staz-On ink pad at least (101406 – $8).  You can get the other colors if you’d like to add more, or you can use the black for all and your cards will still be great.

If you need adhesive, let me know and I can help you there – I’d recommend SNAIL and Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Here are the links for the supplies you’ll need:

And if you’d like to add the extra ink colors for more possibilities, here are the ones recommended for the Tin of Cards Kit:
