How To Turn the Negative Into a Positive: Playful Alphabet Dies

Some dies are perfect for using in the negative (the empty space they create) rather than in the positive. Letter dies or open shape dies can be used to add patterns to a card layer. Here the Playful Alphabet Dies (152706) add a striking negative space greeting.

A tip for creating this card: use the Magnetic Plate to hold your letters in place as you’re cutting. Alternatively, you can place the dies and add a strip of temporary washi tape to keep them from moving. But the Magnetic Plate can be used over and over again – plus it’s super quick and you won’t need to pull the washi tape off your dies at the end.

Remember to decorate the inside of your card! Here I’ve added some simple stamping with the Playful Patterns stamp set.
