Floating Strippy WOW with Window Sheets and Stampin’ Up!®’s Valley in Bloom Suite

Ep 644: Floating Strippy WOW with Window Sheets and Stampin’ Up!®'s Valley in Bloom Suite

When the die cut images are as wonderful as the Lily of the Valley Bundle, it’s all about highlighting the pretty shapes with a suitable background layer. This Strippy Window Sheet technique creates a fun and playful backdrop that allows the main images to sit front and center, but gives them a little extra visual oomph. Yup, that’s the technical term – lol.

There are two kinds of dies included with the Lily of the Valley set – the ones that cut out images from the stamp set, and the ones designed to stand on their own as images. The latter work for our card today – the Designer Series Paper makes a great cutting material for subtle pretty variation in the color tones. And since there’s a separate die for the bells on the flowers, it’s easy to cut those from scraps of Basic White cardstock for contrast.

Be sure to layer the bells with Mini Stampin Dimensionals for easy assembly. I like to sort the bells from smallest to largest before adding to the stem, so that the smaller flowers are set at the top and the larger bells at the bottom.

Pick out a background paper from all the choices – I don’t think there is a loser in the bunch of these Valley in Bloom Designer Series Paper patterns. Any one of them (yes, even the yellow!) could have made a pretty background for our card.

One key in assembly for the strippy background – use a piece of grid paper (or the mini grid sheets for the Stampin Positioner Tool). Place the grid paper under the window sheet so that can easily keep the strips of cardstock straight while you’re gluing. Then when it’s done, give them lots of time to dry – don’t pick it up and trim away the ends right away. It takes just a little longer than usual for the glue to dry when you’re gluing to a nonporous surface like the window sheet.
