{Insert your own trumpet fanfare here} It’s time for the November Stamps in the Mail Club kit announcement!
What says Christmas more than red and white candy stripes? Okay, probably lots of things, but the red and white stripes are certainly iconic, don’t you think? The other great thing about this card is that it uses your precious vellum sheets very efficiently. And whether we agree about red and white stripes or not, we certainly agree that using paper efficiently is a good thing!
Actually, I’ve shared a few cards with the same trick for making the most of 12 x 12″ papers. Here’s one with designer series paper (see it) and here’s another with the same Holidays Fancy Foil Vellum (see it) that I used on this poinsettia card.
How to Use 12″ x 12″ Paper Efficiently
- Cut a 12″ x 12″ paper into strips 3″ wide
- Cut each strip into pieces 4″ tall
- Optional: layer each 3″ x 4″ piece with a coordinating 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ card stock layer
You’ll get 12 pieces from a single sheet, and they’re the perfect size for making a set of cards. If you’re making Christmas cards you often need more than 1 (right?) so this is a perfect way to make the most of that gorgeous vellum or designer series paper that you love.
I have another trick for you in the video tutorial today. If you have been wondering how to line up the poinsettia images in the 3-step stamping Reason for the Season stamp set, then you’ll find this video really helpful. There are actually little photopolymer tabs on each stamp and I’ll share some tricks on how to line up your stamped images.
This is mentioned in the video, but I’ve heard a LOT of stampers this fall say that they love the flower in this set because they don’t have to color it in. They love that there are stamps to color the red and green for them! I have to say that I agree :)
