Stamps, ink and paper, oh my!! Another Blending Brushes technique that you’ll want to try immediately – if you’re not already in the know on this fun way to apply ink to stamps. For beautiful ombre inking on the Inspiring Snapdragons stamp set (it’s the PERFECT stamp set for this technique), grab your Blending Brushes and a couple of favorite ink pads. Plus we’ll be CASing the famous Page 22 for a layout inspiration.
Ombre Inking with Blending Brushes: The snapdragons can definitely be inked and stamped in a single color, but adding an ombre effect brings them to the next design level.
Ombre Inking with Blending Brushes
To create this look, ink the stamp in the lightest color first, then add extra ink to the edges by tapping with an inked Blending Brush along the borders of the stamp. You may need to remove excess ink from the first color by ‘stamping off’ – stamping on a scrap paper. This way the added colors won’t be overwhelmed by the first ink.
Don’t forget to stamp and decorate INSIDE your card, too.
During our Maker Mornings with Meg video, I did a little “Reality Crafting with Meg” segment and created a second card (also using a layout inspiration from page 22 in the catalog). These circle punches were leftover from a past project and they were in the bottom of my DSP package.
They were the perfect way to add a little extra color in a new layout. Be sure to watch the video tutorial for the details about WHERE I placed the layered colors – it makes a big difference in the final card!
And since I had extra Inspiring Snapdragons die cuts (be sure to watch my video trick for cutting out multiples in sequence – you’ll have a whole forest of snapdragons in no time)… I decided to create just one more card, this one with a white backgroud to allow the colors and textures to shine.
These colors are absolutely fabulous together, and the Blending Brush Ombre Stamping technique brings out the best. Be sure to check out the 2024-2026 In Colors if you haven’t already: Petunia Pop, Pretty in Pink, Summer Splash and Peach Pie used here.
