Early last fall I was asked to make a 6×6 scrapbook page layout about myself. This is actually a harder task than I anticipated! The thoughts ran through my head… “what should I say? what do I include? how do I include my family and all the random little things that I love?”
This is what I came up with: a photo of me with my family (before Tucker came along ;-) and a page that included a list of things that I love. I realized that other than my family, nearly everything that topped my list was an experience or a feeling created by an experience…not much in the way of actual “things”.
Here are some of the details from the pages:
To do the vellum piece with my name, I used an Aqua Painter to spread Really Rust ink all over the back of a piece of vellum cardstock. There was quite a bit of water so the effect is rustic and weathered since the ink ran in puddles as it dried–very cool! The vellum piece is attached with a stitched hemp twine “x” on both sides. Gotta love that Well-Worn Alphabet (107159, $41.95)
The Round Tab Punch (108340, $15.95) was the perfect accent for the photo, especially with the ‘together’ word from Everyday Flexible Phrases (104383, $41.95) and the Totally Tabs flower accent stamp (109473, $15.95).
The flower accents were also done with stamps and punches… the 5-Petal Punch (109041, $15.95) makes up both the flower and the leaves. The flowers were stamped with the Wanted stamp set (109395, $22.95) and they’re assembled with an Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelet (108431, $9.95) to hold them together. There are more Hemp Twine ‘x’s’ on the Designer Series Paper background. I love how the Designer Series Paper strips all match so well–they’re layered to complement each other perfectly.
