Shaker Cards Made Simple: Learn the Trick!

With the new Stampin’ Up! catalog, there are some FABULOUS products available to help make Shaker Cards simple. 

My favorites? 

• Sprinkles Punch – for confetti of all colors!
• Foam Adhesive Strips – perfect for straight edges OR can be gently bent and adhered around curved openings
• Layering Squares Framelit Dies – so many sizes ensure you’ll always have the ones you need on hand (and they come in other shapes, too – hearts, circles, ovals)

This is actually a card that I created for our demonstrator team meeting in May.  But I’ve been using it over and over again because it’s gotten such positive reviews!

Are you in love with the new In Colors yet?  This card features two of them – Dapper Denim and Emerald Envy.  I have to admit that Emerald Envy was my least favorite when I saw the colors initially…but now I can hardly stamp a project without it!  (Like the Pop of Paradise card I posted last week!)

Instructions for Making A Shaker Box Card: 

1. First ink the greeting of your choice and stamp on the Whisper White card stock square (2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″). 
2. Use the Layering Squares Framelit Dies to cut out the scallop square and the hole in the center.  Add SNAIL adhesive and adhere a piece of window sheet to the back of the frame.
3. Apply the strips of Foam Adhesive around the edges of the window opening on the back of the frame/window sheet layer.
4. On the stamped Whisper White card stock, pile your confetti.  The new Sprinkles Punch is perfect for making fun confetti pieces! Be sure to include some ‘bling’ in the form of sequins or glitter.
5. Peel the backing from the foam strips.  Looking down through the window, apply the box ‘top’ to the box background.
6. Use strong adhesive such as Liquid Glue or Fast Fuse to attach the box to the card front.
