Question of the Day: Do you save your paper scraps?

Idea for storing card stock scraps - use page protectors for each color in magazine holders. Shared by LovenStamps

As crafters we ALL want to spend more time crafting and less time sorting through our materials for just the right piece of card stock or paper.  Here’s a simple tip for your craft room organization – when you’re trying to decide what size card stock to keep, figure out what you’ll use.  If you’re not going to use it, don’t keep it.  And if you’re going to use it, then make sure you put it where you’ll find it!

This is my solution – magazine file holders (thank you, IKEA!).  You may have noticed that I like to stamp… so I keep an open pack of each color of card stock plus an 8.5×11″ page protector for all the scraps of that color.  Since I often cut card stock in large numbers (40-80 cards for a class!), then I end up with lots of similar sized scraps that are perfect for a layer or embellishment on a future card.  And believe me, I use my scraps!  Even if you’re not cutting for 40 cards, a collection of a few fun sized scraps can save you some paper in the long run.

Other tips?  I like to keep my Stampin’ Up! card stock organized by color collection.  I find it easier to know which colors are going to be great together – after all, the collections were put together by fabulous artists.  Each collection has the color values matched so that you can mix/match any 2, 3 or 4 colors and come up with a great project!

If you need to build up your paper stock, feel free to shop in my online store!  This question popped up today from one of my newer LovenStampfuls team members.  We have a fabulous group for sharing ideas and asking questions – and I thought this was a great question to post about on my blog!
