Peaceful Christmas refills (159417) are available today, so here are three fabulous FUN FOLD alternate Paper Pumpkin card ideas for the October 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit. Just add a Blending Brush and some Basic White cardstock for these terrific extra layout options. Don’t limit yourself to just the card ideas in the box – use these #howtocaseacard tips to turn your Paper Pumpkin pieces into new designs.
Fun ideas, right? This kit is a fabulous one – lots of mix and match possibilities, and you can either make the cards as shown or let the kit help you create the alternatives. Plus I’ll show you all three ideas with walkthroughs and tips as part of the video tutorial below.
Let’s take a look at each card layout. This one below is a Split Front Card, inspired by the polar bear Arctic Bears card that I created last week. That blog post is still coming! But I showed the card in today’s video tutorial, and how to get from there to here with the Peaceful Christmas Paper Pumpkin kit.
Note that this card is simple to create from the provided card base and layer. Just cut 1″ from the front edge of the card, and 1″ from the edge of the Buffalo Check layer. Attach them inside and decorate as desired for a fun fold variation.
The next card is a single gate fold card – another fun fold (or some call them fancy folds). For this card, you’ll start with the Paper Pumpkin card base, but fold it with the design IN, not out. Then fold back the front of the card to create the one sided gate.
See how it comes together? I’ve got a top tip for adding a layer inside the card – complete with a super way to extend your Paper Pumpkin pieces and use the vellum scraps as masks with Blending Brushes.
See how pretty? Plus with the split cardstock, the masked design really ties the two layers together so you hardly even notice the line down the middle. The best way to start this center layout is to cut your Basic White cardstock layer to 4″ x 5 1/4″, then mask the trees, then cut down the center to create two 2″ wide pieces. Add to the folded card base.
Finally here’s a simple fix for another Gate Fold Card design – an extended gate fold card layout. Instead of cutting the Buffalo Check layer to match like in my first Paper Pumpkin alternate idea, or leaving the layer off, as in the card above, here I left it full and let it overlap. This is a great way to show off the pretty iridescent Wonderful Snowflakes embellishments, too.
So whatever you create from the October 2021 Peaceful Christmas Paper Pumpkin kit, don’t limit yourself to only the designs shown! These Fun Fold/Fancy Fold ideas will take you a long way with the kit contents.
