It’s no secret that I LOVE color – and blended colors? As in an ombre background? Even better! This technique is so simple to create with Blending Brushes, but sometimes the next steps of how to decorate – stamped images? Layered color? – can be tricky. With the On the Ocean stamp set, there are terrific images that make inked layering a snap.
For this On the Ocean card, the basic layout is the same as one I shared last week, but with a completely different feel. Last week was greens, blues and browns. Today is a riot of color with heat embossed images overlaid.
Begin by layering color on Basic White cardstock with Blending Brushes. Then add stamped images (consider the tip from the video – use a Blending Brush direct-to-stamp technique to create multicolor images), then heat emboss with white embossing powder (from the Basics Embossing Powders).
Another cool technique with Blending Brushes? Create your own ombre die cuts, as with this ship’s sail for the inside of the On The Ocean card.
In the same manner as for the front of the card, use Blending Brushes with a circular motion to blend ink onto the cardstock. When desired color is reached, die cut the image with the On The Ocean dies – and add inside the card.
Never used Versamark or heat embossing? Be sure to watch the video tutorial for basic tips to make your embossing successful!
