I’m HOmE from the backcountry and my 7 days at Philmont Scout Ranch for a staff alumni backpacking trip, so today’s card is the perfect tribute to an amazing adventure. The Musical Jamboree stamp set features characters and campfire instruments, just like what we experienced at our backcountry campfires.
If you’ve looked at this set and were worried about coloring, two fabulous tricks will make your card prep a snap.
First, use Blending Brushes to create the soft background color on Basic White cardstock, then stamp the coyote. This will prevent the Blending Brushes from accidentally smudging the stamped image. Color with Stampin Blends as desired (I liked the minimal coloring on the banjo and bandana).
Second, use Masking Paper (or a post it note) to mask off parts of the background. Add color for the sky and grass with Blending Brushes. In the video I used post-it note cut in half. But after our live video I made 3 more of this card and used the Stampin’ Up! Masking Paper. WOW!! That stuff is amazing – I was able to reuse the mask 3 times and still save it for next time. And there’s no worry that the Blending Brush will accidentally pick up the edge of the mask – the masking paper sticks beautifully all over.
So even though I say in the video that I haven’t used the Masking Paper much, I am DEFINITELY changing my ways – that stuff is terrific!! So I’ve added it to the supply link
