Today’s bonus technique tutorial is a review of the Blending Brush ombre inking technique. With a two step stamp set like Cake Celebrations it’s easy to add further color and blending with a little extra. I shared this technique in episode 530, and you’ll want to go back to see the Ocean Friends card I created with the multi-colored crab images.
To create this multicolored inking effect, first ink the stamp in the background color. Next use a Blending Brush or stamp on scrap paper to remove excess ink. Finally add the new ink back to the stamp by tapping with a Blending Brush.
With a large contrast between colors (like on the cake stand with Coastal Cabana and Blueberry Bushel) the shadowed effect is easy to see. With a smaller contrast (Pretty ink Pink and Peach Pie on the cake) there is more of an ombre effect between the colors to add just a little extra visual interest and color texture.
I love the idea of hall table decor art frame – with the option to swap out the artwork for special celebrations!
