Looking for a few last summer projects to complete together before your kids head back to school? Here’s one that the girls did last month for Summer Scrap Camp. They used several Big Shot dies, and the background paper on the right side was created using the Flower Fancy stamp set and Watercolor Wonder Crayons. I find that Watercolor Wonder Crayons and AquaPainters are a favorite tool set for kids, beginning around age 5 or 6.
A few tips for stamping with kids:
Choose projects open to creativity: while most adults like to see a sample and copy it, most kids like to create something that’s uniquely theirs. Give them instruction on how to use high-quality art tools, and let them go to town.- Limit some choices: don’t give them access to every tool or color under the sun. Kids are more successful in their projects if they have a few colors that are designed to match each other. A perfect choice would be to use all Bold Brights color family inks or cardstocks, since you know the colors will mesh well.
- Add glitter: enough said, right? Be sure to contain the glitter though, or you’ll be wearing it for weeks. I like to use the Stampin’ Up! Powder Pals, since the trays have spouts for pouring excess glitter back into the containers.
- Pick ‘useful’ projects: kids are proud of their art and like to keep it around. Projects like treasure boxes, photo frames or notebooks will be handy and popular
