My Digital Studio Monday: Read for Life

Books, books everywhere… that’s pretty much the way it is at our house. Whenever you’re sitting down, there’s a small hand with a book in it, approaching your lap. I can even recite a few for you… Jamberry, by Bruce Degen, is one of my current favorites.

So as part of my family calendar, I wanted to create a layout highlighting reading as one of our favorite activities. This 12×12 layout is created 100% digitally with the new My Digital Studio, from Stampin’ Up!.

The supplies here are part of the original My Digital Studio package. The letters are from the Summer Home Simply Scrappin Kit, and the color blocks are from the Happy Bday Simply Scrappin Kit. The flourish images are out of the Frames with a Flourish digital stamp set, and the scallop border is a digital punch. Oh, and the silver brads are from the Silver Hodgepodge Hardware set.

The page is 100% digital–it just looks ‘real’ because of the drop shadows behind the elements.
***My Digital Studio TECH TIP***
What’s a drop shadow? Good question! Here’s an example:

See how the bottom sample looks dimensional? It’s that little shadow tucked behind the stamped flourish. If you want something to look like it’s an added dimensional element, you add a drop shadow. If you want your paper/stamp/embellishment to look like it’s a printed part of your paper or image, you leave the drop shadow off.
