Big Shot Butterfly Playtime

Did I say “playtime”? Wait… this is my job… I meant WORK!! ;-)
Oh, and this is just a small taste of what I have in store for my New Catalog Showcase Party tomorrow… don’t miss it if you live near me!! (see details here)

Just check out all those fun supplies, just BEGGING to come out of the box and play with me!! Wow, what to try out first? <>

Here’s what I tried first! That Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Butterflies die (114507, $21.95) for the Big Shot practically jumped out of the box. You can see two of the butterflies here, including the background one where I used the Stampin’ Up! Exclusive Backgrounds I Texturz Plate (114512, $11.95 for a set of 6), of course also for the Big Shot. I also added texture to the Whisper White background (little polka dots) but it’s harder to spot in the picture.

Here’s another version of the same card… I had the Raspberry Tart Designer Series Paper Scallop Die Cut frames left from another project, and they were just begging me to use them on these butterfly cards…

Therefore the Elegant Butterfly Card:

The supply list for the card above is pretty similar… just add the Simple Friendship Stamp Set (which is the stamp set for my Stamps in the Mail Club beginning in February–check details), and I used the Pink Pirouette Striped Grosgrain Ribbon here, plus White Taffeta Ribbon for the butterfly body, and ink pads in Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose.

And I was on such a roll that I decided to try one more card! I wanted to do something a little bolder–with more of a ‘kick’ in the colors, so I focused on the Cameo Coral in the Raspberry Tart Designer Series Paper.

My Bold Butterfly Card:

Here the stamp set featured (see the flowers in the background and the greeting) is Good Friend (113740, $28.95). I didn’t use the bird from the set here, but I’m falling in love with the flowers! Oh, and the NEW Kiwi Kiss Corduroy Buttons (114338, $9.95)–YIKES are they fun, or what?! And the good ‘ol Kiwi Kiss Satin Ribbon complemented the card perfectly. Ink colors here were Cameo Coral, Regal Rose, and cardstock was Regal Rose, Cameo Coral, Kiwi Kiss and Pretty in Pink, plus Raspberry Tart Designer Series Paper again.

I couldn’t resist taking a tutorial picture… when I added these butterflies, I mounted them on Stampin’ Dimensionals to make them pop. I actually layered 2 dimensionals to get a jumbo pop.

Ever see a sample and not have the inks or paper colors you need? Well these three cards are a lesson on how to take a design and tweak it to fit what you have on hand. And if you don’t have the Beautiful Butterflies Big Shot die yet, well, then you’re just going to have to order it ;-)

Watch for more this week! I’m going back to WORK now, but wanted to share! ;-)

Oh, and if you love these cards, and want to make them at home, check out my upcoming Beautiful Butterflies Class!!
