2 Peachy Projects – Mini Jam Jar and Split Front Sweet as a Peach

Today’s video includes DOUBLE projects – but both with the same set of carefully selected supplies to help you make the most from your stamping toolbox. We’ll review Poppin Pastels technique and the Split Front Card (also included in the video here below). Totally new today though, are the how-to tips for making the Mini Jam Jar toppers, plus a few ideas on filling these sweet treat containers.

I love the way this Split Front Card opens – such a simple way to continue your design on the inside.

I adore the Poppin’ Pastels Technique for this peachy set. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’ll want to check out the detail on the Poppin’ Pastels Technique from my earlier video tutorial.

Poppin’ Pastels makes an appearance on the card front, too – both the leaves and the peaches die cuts get their color variation from the technique, featuring the new Soft Pastels Assortment from the Annual Catalog.

Another best-practice tip from today’s card: cut your DSP for the front of the card to 4″ x 5 1/4″ first. THEN cut off the edge piece (I usually cut about 1 1/4″ to put inside). That way your papers will have a design that lines up perfectly.

Now for the Mini Jam Jars — aren’t they darling?

In the video tutorial I share some ideas on what to put in them. The jars are food safe, but don’t put anything hot inside — they’re definitely not suitable for actual canning, or for hot jelly. If you’re going to add actual jam, be sure to cool it before adding to the jar.

Whatever you put in them, these little jars would make amazing favors for a wedding or baby shower. Just the right size to include something fun (candy? bath salts?) but not so large that it costs a fortune to fill them.

I do have some great tips for getting the paper to stay where you’d like it on the lids. The video tutorial will go through that process, as it’s easier to see than to describe. But if you’re in a hurry, I did draw a circle on the back of the DSP around the lid first, then used that as my guideline for adding Seal+ to the paper. It’s important to crease the paper well at the edge of the jar lid (tips in the tutorial!).

Finally, the lid gets an extra sweet touch from the Poppin’ Pastels technique again. The large peach shape is the perfect size for stamping on – no extra label required. But I did add a label from the Stitched So Sweetly Die set behind the peach, to help it stand out from the slightly busy DSP topper.
