Candy Wrapper Tricks for Treats: Big Shot Halloween
Have you seen this cute box yet? I love the new Candy Wrapper Big Shot Die from the Holiday Mini Catalog!
Here is a fun version where I came up with a special trick to add the Spider Web Textured Impressions Folder to the box. **Hint** Use your Decorative Strip Spacer Platform!
These little boxes are a snap to make at home, but it definitely helps to have some tips. I don’t know about you, but I’m a visual learner, so the Video Tutorials really help me catch the details. (see some of my past Video Tutorials)
**If you’d like to try some of these Candy Wrapper Boxes but don’t have a Big Shot, you’ll want to sign up for my Stamps in the Mail Club.** One of the September projects is a set of 3 of these cute little boxes, and you’ll receive all the supplies pre-diecut to make the boxes at home.

Stamping 101 Video Tutorial: Scallop Circle Tricks
Did you see the Two Step Owl Punch project I posted a few weeks ago?
There was a fun trick that I included, using the Homemade single stamp in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog. When I ordered that stamp, I wasn’t sure how I was going to use it, since the center of the stamp says “Homemade & to die for” and I just don’t bake all that often.
But I refused to set it aside, so I came up with a fun trick for getting more out of that sweet single stamp. I’ll warn you now, you’re going to need to add Homemade to your Wish List, and the new Extra Large Scallop Circle to go along with it!
**TIP** To use the Homemade stamp as a border stamp, try Rocking & Rolling the stamp on your ink pad, rather than normal inking. Check to be sure you ink the entire scallop and dot ring, plus a small amount of the center image, but don’t ink as far as the “homemade & to die for” sentiment.

Fleece Flowers: Faster and Fresher with Scallop Circles
This week is the Stampin’ Up! Convention in Salt Lake City — that’s 4 full days of thousands of crazy stampers all in one place.
One of my favorite parts of Convention is trading ideas with other Demonstrators. We like to call it “swapping” and we swap everything from cards to scrapbook pages to 3-D items.
Stampin’ Up! has a fun evening event planned for us with a Flower Power theme, so of course I had to come up with a fun “flower power” type item to swap! The Fleece Flowers I’ve shared recently are great (check out that Video Tutorial) but I wanted to come up with something a little quicker.
Hence the “Faster & Fresher Fleece Flower” was born! These little flowers are created using the Scallop Circle Die. The steps are simple:
- Cut a Scallop Circle from polar fleece fabric using the Big Shot Die Cut Machine
- Cut the Scallop Circle into a spiral, about 5/8″ wide all the way to the center
- Use hot glue to attach a 2″ fleece circle to the back of the spiral (cut with the Big Shot Circles #2 Die)
- Use hot glue to attach leaves cut from the Big Shot Island Floral Die
But I can do one better than just directions and photos. Here’s a Video Tutorial that I created to teach you how to make these simple flowers using fabric and your Big Shot Die Cut Machine.

And be sure to check back this week for more posts about the Stampin’ Up! Convention!

Spritzing Tips: Smooch Like You Mean It!
One of my favorite Summer Mini Catalog items is the new Smooch Spritz spray–specifically the Log Cabin color (119921). As an Earth Elements color family fan, this is definitely my fav choice.
I wanted to share a few tips on using your Smooch Spritzes, and also show how they work with the Presto Patterns Specialty Paper on this “Thanks a Latte” card that I posted last week.
On the video I actually meant to say “SPRITZ like you mean it.” But what came out was “SMOOCH like you mean it.” I thought about editing that part out, but it seems to me that if you’re going to be smooching, you should mean it. So I left that in

How to Cut Cardstock: A Stamping 101 Tutorial
It’s one thing to look at fabulous card ideas in the Stampin’ Up! catalog or here online, but another thing to actually be able to turn those ideas into real cards at home.
One of the basic skills you’ll need to grasp is “How to Cut Cardstock,” so I’ve created a handy Stamping 101 Video Tutorial showing you exactly that. Yes, it’s simple, but I get a lot of questions on this from new stampers. Everyone has to learn somewhere, right?
You’ll want to start off with a good paper cutter–scissors alone aren’t going to do the job for you. Stampin’ Up! has a great Paper Cutter (104152) that I use in my own stamping studio.
I mentioned my Stamps in the Mail Club in the Video Tutorial. Remember that with Stamps in the Mail Club, your cardstock is pre-cut for you, so you don’t have to worry about this cutting business

How To Use Scissors: Stamping 101 Video Tip of the Week
I know, I know… all we need to know we learned in kindergarten, right? Well it turns out that we probably DID learn this one in kindergarten. But then we learned about using adverbs, the fall of ancient Greece and calculus, and somehow the “how to use scissors” lesson got lost.
Personally, I’d rather re-learn how to use scissors than calculus.
Do you HATE to cut out little parts for your cards and scrapbook pages? I used to feel that way, but I’m reformed now. And I can help you learn to like cutting things out a little more! My biggest hint? Hold your scissors in one place and move your paper, instead of the other way around. More tips? That’s why I made a Video Tutorial ![]()
One more note — On January 12, 2010 a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, leaving in its wake devastation so overwhelming that the Haitian people and their leaders can only look for help from the outside to cope.
From now until February 28, 2010, $2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set purchased will be donated to the American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.
