Gently Falling: gathering fall colors
Lately whenever we walk outside, my son seems to find a fallen leaf that he absolutely MUST take home (he’s 3). I have to admit, the colors are gorgeous and worth appreciating up close. We’re going to have to put a bag for his treasures in the car though, because at this point we have a minivan back seat filled with semi-crushed leaves.
Here’s a card with pretty fall leaves that do not require vacuuming your car. The leaves are from the Gently Falling stamp set in the Holiday Mini Catalog (see it online). The fabric and colors are from the Spice Cake Designer Series Fabric (see it online).
I used 2 techniques on this card:
- Rock N Roll (on the leaves). First ink your stamp with the lighter color ink (here, More Mustard). Then take the inked stamp and gently roll the edges of the stamp around a darker color pad (Old Olive). The stamp will pick up the ink on the edges and you end up with a wonderful two-toned image.
- Tile Panels. I didn’t actually stamp 3 small pieces of card stock for this card. Instead, to make the image look like it flows across the card stock, stamp your images all on one piece of card stock. Then use a paper trimmer to cut the piece into 3 panels, and attach the panels to your card.
The spritz on the background is the Log Cabin Smooch Spritz (see it online), which gives the card a nice texture, plus a little hint of glitz (since the spray is metallic). Finally, the “happy thanksgiving” is from my favorite greetings set, Teeny Tiny Wishes (see it online). Definitely, this is a set that I use all the time.
Happy Stamping!

It’s Here! The Holidays can start now!
Actually, I’m right there with you, rolling our eyes when the big box stores start to stock the shelves with Christmas ornaments sometime around July 5th. One holiday down, on to the next one, right? But with my stamping projects, I actually like a good amount of lead time — more relaxing for me to start thinking about gifts I want to create and plans for cards.
Plus there are actually holidays between July 5th and December 25th (news flash to the big box stores!)! Here’s a sweet card that uses a fall tree single stamp: Leaves of a Tree (see it online), and the new Spice Cake Designer Series Paper (see it online). Both are from the NEW Holiday Mini Catalog — just released today! You can browse and shop online or you can download the Mini Catalog to browse at home.
Loving the Perfectly Penned stamp set, too (more ideas).
Happy Stamping!

Convention 2011: So many ideas, need to get stamping!
By the third day of the Stampin’ Up! Convention, it sounds like everyone is starting to get itchy fingers that need to pick up a stamp and start creating based on all the fabulous ideas we’ve seen! Every time we look up at a screen or sit down in a class, there’s another project that we “need” to make for ourselves.
The new It’s A Wrap Occasions stamp set (see it online) made the top of my new Wish List… good thing it was waiting for me already at home, having just been ordered the week before Convention!
We also saw this super-clever Thanksgiving Turkey by Stampin’ Up!’s own Carrie Cudney. The body is created from the Heart Sweet Treat Cups (see them online) and the rest of the turkey feathers and features were done with the Build a Blossom stamp set (see it online) and the Blossom Petals Punch (see it online).
And here’s another of her clever ideas using Sweet Treat Cups for a Christmas favor.
As part of the Main Stage session, there were several more groups honored with a chance to walk across the stage. The awards on Day 3 were the Milestone Awards — the ones that you earn no matter how long it takes you (for sales milestones) or how active you are as a demonstrator (for years milestones). Here’s a picture of 8 of our Green Hat Girls marching across the stage for their 5 Year Milestone. I don’t have a picture, but I also marched for crossing my $300,000 in Career Sales milestone this year!
After that, SANTA visited us demonstrators, and brought with him a new stamp set from the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog, plus a disk of My Digital Studio downloads — yay for Santa!
And the stamp set Santa brought is the new Hostess Set from the Holiday Mini Catalog… you’re going to love it! I can’t show it to you yet, but check back on September 1st for the unveiling. Or if you want the true Sneak Peek, you can always take advantage of the $99 Demonstrator Starter Kit and join my Stampin’ Up! family. As a demonstrator, you can even SHOP from the Holiday Mini Catalog on August 1st–hardly any waiting at all!
After Santa we all said goodbye–to head back to our hotel for our Annual Post-Convention Pizza and chance to see all the swap cards everyone had received. Have you ever seen a pizza this big? I swear they were 3 feet across! Okay, maybe not quite 3 feet, but not too much smaller!
So many swaps… I’d guess there were close to 10,000 card fronts to look through. We were all joking about how many cards a demonstrator can look at in one evening before her eyes begin to glaze over. But the pizza was great, the swaps were gorgeous and the friendships and time spent together are the best.
Here’s our whole group (minus a couple of ladies who had to leave early) of Green Hat Girls at Convention this year! (that’s me in the checkered dress at the bottom right)
If you’ve enjoyed reading about the Stampin’ Up! Convention this week, you’ll want to start picturing yourself enjoying it with us NEXT year! The dates are July 18-21, 2012, and the chance to attend Convention is only one fabulous perk of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator. I’d love to have you join our Stampin’ family!
Don’t forget about the special $99 Starter Kit available only til the end of July (valued at $185+), plus you’ll receive the Christmas Keepsake Box Kit: stamps, ink, embellishments and directions–ready to stamp! ($40+ value). You can drop me a note with any questions, or if you’re ready to sign up, you can use this link and click “join now” on the right side of the screen. You can even watch a little video clip about Stampin’ Up!.
Thanks for touring the Stampin’ Up! Convention with me this year!
Happy Stamping!

Gluten-Free? No Problem!
If you or anyone in your family has a food allergy, then you know that making a special portion or having another option available at mealtime is no big deal. Gluten-free or soy-free foods and ingredients are much more readily available at the local supermarket than in the past.
But what to do when you have a house full of people for a party, and you want to make sure people know which are the options for those with allergies? Why you use your Stampin’ Up! supplies to make signs, of course!
(Warning: SNEAK PEEK content included…) If you’re a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, then you had the chance to pre-order the new Build A Cupcake Punch (121807) from the upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog (orders begin January 4).
Here’s the punch in action…except that I used it to make muffins, rather than cupcakes. See? Don’t they look like little corn muffins, ready to eat with chili?
The signs are stuck with glue dots to BBQ skewers on the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch pieces. Then the cupcake (aka muffin) pieces are punched with the Build A Cupcake Punch. The punch is just like the 2 Step Owl Punch, where all the pieces are on one large punch, and you just use strips of paper to punch out the ones you need.
Even sweeter, there is actually a stamp set called Create A Cupcake that matches the punch perfectly. You stamp, then punch your pieces. So sweet! But my doorbell was ringing, so this is all I had time to assemble in the 45 seconds available
If you already have this fun punch, then enjoy! And if you don’t have it yet… you’ll just have to wait to check it out when your Mini Catalog comes in the mail later this week, or until it’s available online to browse on January 4th!

Happy Turkey Day!
Happy Thanksgiving to you! I want to share a post from last year that you may have missed… and it’s perfect for this week!
What’s cuter than a Scallop Punch with googlie eyes? Why, a Scallop Punch Turkey with googlie eyes, of course!
These little turkeys were shared by Liz Orr at one of our Lovenstampful Stamp & Share events.
Want to make your own? Here’s what you’ll need:
- Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Certainly Celery, Not Quite Navy & Cajun Craze
- Punches: Scallop Circle, 3/4″ Circle Punch, Large Oval, *Boho Blossoms Punch (just a little bit different from the punch in the photo)
- Other: Stampin’ Dimensionals, Peppermint Patties & googlie eyes, of course!
These are so simple–just punch the pieces shown in the photo and sandwich a Peppermint Patty between the front and the back Scallop Punch pieces as shown. The head is attached with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Speaking of peppermint patties, did you see the Christmas project idea I shared yesterday?
Have fun with these! Can’t wait to make them for my own Thanksgiving table!

Dressing, Cranberries and a Side of Glitter?
Ah, thinking ahead to our turkey day feasts… My daughter brought home a turkey to decorate and return to school, with directions to make it a family project.
So what to do when you have a family project and a craft room full of supplies? Pull out the Stampin’ Glitter, of course! Needless to say, we are both covered in glitter, but we’re also grinning
Who needs macaroni and sand when you could have Fine Cosmo or Fine Supernova Stampin’ Glitter?
These are ultrafine glitters, which means that they have excellent sticking powder, especially when used with the 2-Way Glue Pen.
DIRECTIONS: Really easy, even for a 1st grader. Just draw with the 2-Way Glue Pen where you want the glitter to stick (preferably on the project… not on the table). Then pour glitter over the top (use as much as you want!), shake the glitter around and return the extra to the container. These little glitters go a long way!

Help for Halloween Parties: Batty For You
Do you have parties or meetings in the next couple of weeks? If you’re taking a snack, why not make it special?
These little toothpicks took me about 20 minutes to stamp and assemble for a women’s club meeting last evening. Yes, of course a few friends teased me about my Martha-Stewart-ness, but it was worthwhile. It’s not as if my kids have these toothpicks in their school lunches every day, right? Although I do have a few left picks over now…
Really, aren’t they sweet? Super simple too! Just punch, layer, add Stampin’ Dimensionals and stick the toothpick onto one of the dimensionals between the card stock layers.
Here are the supplies you need:
- 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch (the smaller one–119854)
- 1-3/8″ Circle Punch
- 1-1/4″ Circle Punch
- Batty for You stamp set
- Ink pads in Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie & Old Olive
- Card stock in Basic Black, Whisper White & Pumpkin Pie
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
Did you see the pumpkin in the background, too? I can’t believe I haven’t blogged about it yet! So here goes… the spider is from the Decor Elements Spooky Thing (I have a spider on my cell phone too!). And the black jewels are Stampin’ Up!, too–I even have a Video Tutorial on how to get them from the backing paper to your project without losing the perfect swirls.
Whew… so many fun ideas, and Halloween is coming! Don’t miss the other Halloween ideas that I’ve posted recently. And if you’re feeling short on time to place an order and get Halloween supplies, remember that you CAN expedite shipping and receive your order within a day or two. Or start thinking now–all these ideas can be adapted easily for Christmas!

Founder’s Circle or Bust: 135 Swap Cards are Ready
I’m nearly ready!! This week I’m off to St. George, Utah for the Stampin’ Up! Founder’s Circle Retreat. Each year Stampin’ Up! invites the top 100 Demonstrators for a 5-day all-expenses paid trip to relax and refresh. This year I was fortunate to be named as the #13 Demonstrator of the Year, out of more than 40,000 demonstrators. And I’m really excited to be heading to beautiful Southern Utah this week!
Keep an eye out–I’ll be posting highlights from the trip each day. In addition to the Stampin’ Up! activities, I have plans to do some hiking and rock climbing (did you see my pictures from last year?)
I admit that I’m not quite as organized as last year, when I started my scrapbook with My Digital Studio before I even left (check that out). But I do have this year’s swaps ready to go! I used the Felt Pad Technique that I shared last week.
If you’d like to check out past Founder’s Circle highlights that I’ve posted on my blog, here are some posts from Founder’s Circle 2009 and Founder’s Circle 2008. My blog wasn’t around for the Founder’s Circle 2007 trip, so I’ll have to save those pictures for future posts.
So off to St. George this week..I’m sure this year will be just as fabulous as in the past, and I look forward to sharing my photos!

Custom Felt Pads: Day of Gratitude
You may have used Stampin’ Write Markers to ink your stamp in multiple colors, but did you know that you can use regular craft felt with your Classic Pad Ink Refills to make Custom Ink Pads, too?
The **Custom Felt Pad** technique is easy:
- Outline your stamp on a piece of craft felt with a pen
- Drip ink from the Refill bottle onto the felt until the saturation point. Use as many colors as you like beginning with the light colors first and filling in dark colors last.
- Gently ink stamp on felt pad and stamp as normal
(optional) keep your custom felt pad on an absorbent ceramic tile while you stamp and reink, to keep the ink from pooling behind the felt and mixing as you reink your custom pad
This technique is great for when you are making several of the same card and don’t want to use your Stampin’ Write Markers to ink a stamp 50 or 100 times.
I used the technique here to stamp the medallions in the background of this card. Day of Gratitude is one of the fabulous new stamp sets available in the Holiday Mini Catalog (browse here).

Like the scallop trim on this card? It’s from the Tasteful Trim Big Shot Die (I think it’s aptly named!) in the Holiday Mini Catalog.
If you’re in the Champaign-Urbana, Illinois area, join me for Stamp Club this week! (tonight actually!!) We’ll be making this card as one of our projects.
Check out some recent technique ideas on my blog…
