Candy Wrapper Die: Sweet & Simple Neighbor Gifts

Have you played with the Candy Wrapper Die for the Big Shot?  Last year I made some quick and cute holiday gifts with this die (check them out) and they were a big hit.  (see the die online).

Even more fun?  The Many Merry Messages stamp set is a great fit for this project.  (see it online)  The Snowflake Punch provides a seasonal accent, but you could change it up for any occasion with the Gift Givers stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog (see it online).

The Glimmer Paper comes in handy for all kinds of projects, and hands this little treat the “bling” factor (see it online).  Colors here? They’re from the 2011-2013 In Colors: Pool Party and Island Indigo.

Finally, if you’re looking for help with assembling your Candy Wrapper die cuts, be sure to check out my Video Tutorial for putting these together.

Here are a couple of quick “How To” tips for the Candy Wrapper Die:

  1. Use the Premium Crease Pad (see it online) to be sure to get strong creases, especially when using Designer Series Paper
  2. Fold along the horizontal and vertical lines first, then fold all the “x” creases at the ends
  3. Use Sticky Strip to hold the box together.  Be sure to assemble the box ‘flat’ (check the Video Tutorial)
  4. To fold the ends, fold them back and forth as if they’re milk cartons (again, check the Video).  Then separate the end and “twist & open”

Have fun with these quick little treats!!

Happy Stamping!

Top Note Tri-Fold Cards: A Video Tutorial

Okay, it’s been 2 weeks since I promised you a Video Tutorial on this project, so I think it’s about time.  Did you see the Top Note Tri-Fold Cards I’ve been posting? (see them here)  This is the one I shared yesterday.

Today I’m posting the Video Tutorial for making the Top Note Die shaped flap that is used here as the front panel.

The trick is to use your Big Shot Cutting Plates so that they only put pressure on a portion of your die.  You could really use this trick for any die…I’m thinking it would look really pretty with the Snowflake Die.  Hmm… I think I better get stamping!

What do you think?  Want to give it a try? Be sure to look at the samples I’ve posted using this technique (see them here).

Stamping Supplies: (remember that orders of $150 or more, before shipping/tax, qualify for Stampin’ Rewards of $25 FREE or more!)

Enameled Glass: A Video Tutorial for Crystal Effects and more

Do you love gloss?  Do shiny things fascinate you?  Then you’re going to love this technique that combines Crystal Effects, the Big Shot Beautiful Butterflies Die and the Upsy Daisy stamp set.

My friend and fellow demonstrator, Betsy Crider shared this technique with me — I love it!  Remember to use Shimmery White card stock for this, since it’s a bit heavier than the usual Whisper White, plus it’s got a terrific subtle shimmer that adds a nice extra sparkle to the finished card.

Check out how to make your own masks or stencils using the Big Shot, and you can design a similar card with your own flair.

This is one of the cards we made at Stamp Club with Meg during August.  Be sure to let me know if you’d like to join me for Stamp Club on September 9th here in central Illinois!
