Help for Halloween Parties: Batty For You
Do you have parties or meetings in the next couple of weeks? If you’re taking a snack, why not make it special?
These little toothpicks took me about 20 minutes to stamp and assemble for a women’s club meeting last evening. Yes, of course a few friends teased me about my Martha-Stewart-ness, but it was worthwhile. It’s not as if my kids have these toothpicks in their school lunches every day, right? Although I do have a few left picks over now…
Really, aren’t they sweet? Super simple too! Just punch, layer, add Stampin’ Dimensionals and stick the toothpick onto one of the dimensionals between the card stock layers.
Here are the supplies you need:
- 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch (the smaller one–119854)
- 1-3/8″ Circle Punch
- 1-1/4″ Circle Punch
- Batty for You stamp set
- Ink pads in Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie & Old Olive
- Card stock in Basic Black, Whisper White & Pumpkin Pie
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
Did you see the pumpkin in the background, too? I can’t believe I haven’t blogged about it yet! So here goes… the spider is from the Decor Elements Spooky Thing (I have a spider on my cell phone too!). And the black jewels are Stampin’ Up!, too–I even have a Video Tutorial on how to get them from the backing paper to your project without losing the perfect swirls.
Whew… so many fun ideas, and Halloween is coming! Don’t miss the other Halloween ideas that I’ve posted recently. And if you’re feeling short on time to place an order and get Halloween supplies, remember that you CAN expedite shipping and receive your order within a day or two. Or start thinking now–all these ideas can be adapted easily for Christmas!

Simple Stamping, Better with CANDY
Did you see my simple cards from yesterday? The idea is to put together some “simple stamping” projects that don’t require 10 punches, 4 Big Shot dies and 7 ink colors.
The Every Little Bit stamp set is my set of choice for these projects, since it’s only 1 set but has images for 28 occasions. The little bats are perfect for Halloween projects, especially if you want a stamp set that includes Halloween but you can use all year long.
Here I’ve made some of the chocolate treats using the Petal Card Punch. (click here for the directions on making these simple treasures)
Of course a little BLING is always a good thing, so I’ve added Shimmer Brads from the Brights collection to jazz up our treats a bit. And the little oval punch is perfectly sized for the Petal Card Punch treats. It’s the new 3/4″ x 15/16″ Oval Punch from the Holiday Mini Catalog. Just pop those little bats up with a Stampin’ Dimensional and they’re too cute!

So You Want to Learn to Stamp? Here’s How to Get Started!
Yesterday morning a friend of mine got a few of her friends together for a “Coffee & A Card” party. What a fun morning! She invited her friends who work part time or have flexible schedules to drop their kids off at school, then head over to her house for a short coffee hour and a chance to make a stamped card.
Here is one of the cards we stamped in that short time–it was a HUGE hit! I know it’s beyond simple, but sometimes simple is perfect. The Every Little Bit stamp set is my new FAVORITE! 28 images for EVERY occasion — perfect. Pair it with the Teeny Tiny Wishes greetings stamp set, and you have everything you need.
I heard several ladies mention that they really enjoyed the flexibility and open canvas of stamping a sweet card like this. Think “stamping with no stress, no pressure.” Ah, doesn’t that sound nice?
Don’t get me wrong–I LOVE “Artisan Stamping” too (term coined by my friend Lynsay Mahon), but the Every Little Bit Kit is perfect for a quick or relaxing card session — Lynsay calls it “Express Stamping.”
If you wanted (or you couldn’t help yourself) you could dress up your card with a Scallop Square punched piece and a layer of Getting Started colored card stock to match the ink spots.
Ready to get started? Here are the supplies you need in a basic kit:
Supplies:
• Papers: p171 Note Cards & Envelopes (set of 20 — 107311) $5.95 x 2 for 40 cards

Bling for Backpacks: Designer Jewels Black Flourish
(I’m off to St. George, Utah today for the Stampin’ Up! Founder’s Circle Trip! Watch for more posts this week and don’t miss yesterday’s Swap Card Saga!)
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming…
I don’t know about your kids, but around here it’s really popular to have a collection of keychains hanging from the back of your school backpack.
Sometimes I think the blob of keychains weighs more than the books inside the backpack.
But what’s one more tag, right? This one with the Designer Jewels Black Flourish is going to be a favorite for my daughter. Here are the reasons:
- it’s a tag
- it’s got BLING factor
- it’s themed for Halloween
I’ve created a Video Tutorial for this project. Using the Flourish Jewels is fairly simple, but sometimes it helps to just see something in action when it’s new. You’re going to love these Jewels and all the possibilities!

Creepy Crawly iPhones: Spooky Things Decor Elements
My daughter is not afraid of anything creepy or crawly. I’m not sure how that happened, but I’m glad. Yesterday at our Daisy Girl Scout meeting, my daughter picked up a furry caterpillar to show the girls in the troop. Reactions varied from, “isn’t that cool,” to high-pitched squeals.
So I suppose I’m trying to take a page from her book and embrace the creepy crawlies. Check out my new iPhone case, covered with Decor Elements from the Spooky Things package in the Holiday Mini Catalog:
Definitely spooky. And definitely a departure from the very *pretty* Upsy Daisy Decor Element that had been on my iPhone until my Spooky Things arrived! (check out that blog post)

Fang-Tastic Candy Wrapper Ideas
Halloween headed your way? Looking for Fang-Tastic ways to dress up your candy bars? Here’s a fun and quick idea to get into the spidery spirit of the holiday.
Grab your Spider Web Embossing Folder for the Big Shot and emboss your way to fancier candy. Lurking under the paper wrapping of these bars is a normal Hershey’s bar… not very fancy. But with this wrapper, everyone will be clamoring to get one of your bars!
This is a fairly easy project:
- Cut Pumpkin Pie card stock to 5.5 x 6.5 inches and dry emboss using the Spider Web Textured Impressions Folder with your Big Shot (new in the Holiday Mini Catalog)
- Use Sticky Strip along one long edge and the two short edges of the card stock, then wrap around the chocolate bar. Use your Crimper to add crimps to ends
- Add “bling” at one end with a Glimmer Brad in Basics
- Stamp and watercolor the little witch from the Fang-Tastic stamp set (Holiday Mini Catalog), then punch the image with the NEW 2-1/2″ Circle Punch (Holiday Mini Catalog)
- Stamp the “witch way to the candy” greeting and punch with the Word Window Punch
Loving the simple version above? Ready for MORE “fang-tastic” bling? Check out this stepped-up version!
Added elements (there’s always “one more thing” with my projects!):
- Raven 1/2″ Lace Trim
- Waffle Paper (assortment 2)
- Silver Glass Glitter
- Inked Spider Web embossed design
I’ve been having so much fun with the medallion on this project… you can have fun with it, too! Head on over for Stamp Club (Mahomet, Illinois) tonight, and make the “Halloween BLING” version of this project to take home! Or contact me to book a home party and you and your guests can all make the Speedy Stamper version to take home!

Candy Wrapper Tricks for Treats: Big Shot Halloween
Have you seen this cute box yet? I love the new Candy Wrapper Big Shot Die from the Holiday Mini Catalog!
Here is a fun version where I came up with a special trick to add the Spider Web Textured Impressions Folder to the box. **Hint** Use your Decorative Strip Spacer Platform!
These little boxes are a snap to make at home, but it definitely helps to have some tips. I don’t know about you, but I’m a visual learner, so the Video Tutorials really help me catch the details. (see some of my past Video Tutorials)

Halloween Candy Corn Treats for Kindergarten
Hmm… what to make for my daughter’s class Halloween Party on Friday? Something simple, since Kindergarteners aren’t known for taking time to appreciate the wrapping surrounding candy… But something cute, since I’m excited about sending treats!
This past weekend I spent 2 days at a stamping retreat for demonstrators. What a GREAT relaxing weekend, and lots of time to STAMP! By the way, if you want to join us next time, you can always join my LovenStampfuls Demonstrator Group
Anyway, during the weekend I had plenty of time to come up with a fun favor!
I sat down with the cute little Pumpkin Patch stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog and created these favors for Abby’s class. I also thought I’d share my tips on mass producing projects like this. Basically, you do ALL of each step before going on to the next step:
Start out by stamping all the Pumpkin Patch pieces you need to punch. Then after stamping, punch the pumpkins.- Punch the layers you’ll need for the 1-3/4″ and Scallop Circle Punches.
- Assemble all the medallions
- Add the Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of each medallion

- Use the Big Shot to diecut all of the Petal Card pieces, cut 2 flaps off all the Petal Cards.
- Use SNAIL adhesive to tack the candy packets in place.
- Fold and assemble all the treats! (yes, the Stampin’ Dimensionals are what hold the flaps of the Petal Card in place)

The big picture on this page shows Abby in her kangaroo outfit. She was excited to wear the costume so that she could “have a baby in her tummy, just like Mom.” Tucker was born exactly 1 month after the picture was taken.
Here are the “ingredients” for the My Digital Studio page:
Background Paper: Pumpkin Pie Blooms
Stamps: Textured (Whisper White, 58% Opacity), Extreme Elements (Splatter, Whisper White, 58% Opacity), Torn Edges (Flower Edge, Chocolate Chip)
Embellishments: Hoppy Memories Kit (Border 1, Border 9 and Border 10), Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon Knot,

You’ve Been BOO’d!
This morning my kids were excited to open the cute gift bag left on our doorstep — we’d been “BOO’d!” If you have no idea what I’m talking about, let me explain…
At Halloween, there is a neighborhood game that involves making up some cute treats, taking them to a friend’s house, and leaving the treats along with a poem and a “BOO” sign. Here’s the poem:
The air is cool the season fallSoon Halloween will come to all
The spooks are after things to do
In fact, a spook brought this to you
“BOO” is a shield from witching hour
Just hang it up and watch its power
On your front door is where it works
It wards off spooks and scary jerks
The treats that came with crypted note
Are yours to keep, enjoy them both
The power comes when friends like you
Will copy this and make it TWO
Then others here among our friends
Will give warm fuzzies that do not end
We’ll all have smiles upon our face
No one will know who “BOO”ed whose places
Just one short day to work your spell
Or a big ZAP will strike your tail
And don’t forget a nifty treat,
Like something cute or something sweet
Please join fun, let’s really hear it
And spread some “BOO”s and Halloween spirit.
So you copy the poem and the sign, hang your own “BOO” sign in the window so your neighbors know you’ve already played, and take treats to two more of your neighbors.
Of course I had to make something stamped to take to my neighbors
So in addition to the homemade soft pretzels (yum!) I stamped a couple of quick cards to add to the package:

To make the cards, I folded a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock in half, then cut it with my Top Note Big Shot die so that the fold was inside the cutting edge. The fold doesn’t get cut but the rest of the card does, and these cute notes are the result!
The Designer Series Paper is from the Cast-A-Spell pack, and I also used the pumpkin image from the Autumn Harvest stamp set. I watercolored the image using my Watercolor Wonder Crayons (Earth Elements pack) and my AquaPainter–definitely my favorite way to watercolor. And it’s pretty easy, too… last fall I had about 250 kids use my AquaPainters with this stamp set, and both the kids and the AquaPainters survived
(check out that event here)
