Merry Milk Cartons: 6 panel gift boxes

You’ve seen the Mini Milk Carton Die for the Big Shot, right? (see it online) Did you know you can make it ‘merry’? At the Stampin’ Up! Convention last summer, they showed us how to take two of the milk carton die cut pieces, trim them to 3 panels each, then put them together.  (Here’s a shot of how that looked on stage)

I made a Christmas version of the box as my Hostess Gift at several workshops in November, using the Pines and Poinsettias stamp set (see it online) and the Holly Berry Bouquet Designer Series Paper (see it online) from the Holiday Mini Catalog.

This is a great stamp set for using with Stampin’ Write Markers.  Just use the brush tip of the markers to add as many colors as you want to the stamp, then stamp onto your card stock.

The tag is created with the Decorative Label Punch, which I use ALL the time (see more ideas on my blog).

Happy Stamping!

Merry & Type: A Cocoa Slider Packet

I’ve been a demonstrator for nearly 10 years.  Boy, the time sure flies when you’re having fun!  I pulled this Cocoa Slider Packet design from the recesses of my stamping brain…I remember demonstrating this project when I first started!  Here’s an updated version though: with the Merry & Type stamp set (see it online) and the Peekaboo Frames Die for the Big Shot (see it online).

Know what’s cool about this little holiday treat?  It moves!  When you pull the ribbon end, an inner panel with the treat (cocoa) slides out to the side.  And the Peekaboo frame opens, too, revealing a message from the Merry & Type stamp set inside.

I know!  Isn’t it fun?  Sometimes I can’t believe that I haven’t made one of these for 7-8 years.  Definitely an ‘oldie but goodie’ kind of project.  Want to learn how to make these?  Here are the directions:

  1. Start with a ½ sheet of Very Vanilla card stock and a ‘slider’ piece cut to fit your cocoa packet—about 3 ¾ x 5 ½”.
  2. Place the slider and cocoa in the packet and use Sticky Strip to make a flat tube.
  3. Remove the cocoa. With the slider still inside, punch through all layers at one end, about ½” from the edge.  Pull the slider out and flip it left/right and insert back into the packet so the holes line up.
  4. String a ribbon through all the holes at once, then add cocoa packet back and push slider & cocoa into packet.  Tie at end to hold cocoa in place.

Add a cocoa packet, a tea bag or a hot apple cider and you have a perfect holiday neighbor gift!  Or keep the packet flat by using it to hold a Gift Card for birthdays!

Happy Stamping!

Candy Wrapper Die: Sweet & Simple Neighbor Gifts

Have you played with the Candy Wrapper Die for the Big Shot?  Last year I made some quick and cute holiday gifts with this die (check them out) and they were a big hit.  (see the die online).

Even more fun?  The Many Merry Messages stamp set is a great fit for this project.  (see it online)  The Snowflake Punch provides a seasonal accent, but you could change it up for any occasion with the Gift Givers stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog (see it online).

The Glimmer Paper comes in handy for all kinds of projects, and hands this little treat the “bling” factor (see it online).  Colors here? They’re from the 2011-2013 In Colors: Pool Party and Island Indigo.

Finally, if you’re looking for help with assembling your Candy Wrapper die cuts, be sure to check out my Video Tutorial for putting these together.

Here are a couple of quick “How To” tips for the Candy Wrapper Die:

  1. Use the Premium Crease Pad (see it online) to be sure to get strong creases, especially when using Designer Series Paper
  2. Fold along the horizontal and vertical lines first, then fold all the “x” creases at the ends
  3. Use Sticky Strip to hold the box together.  Be sure to assemble the box ‘flat’ (check the Video Tutorial)
  4. To fold the ends, fold them back and forth as if they’re milk cartons (again, check the Video).  Then separate the end and “twist & open”

Have fun with these quick little treats!!

Happy Stamping!

Happy Birthday To You, Happy Birthday To You!

Happy Birthday, dear Meg; Happy Birthday to you! Thanks to everyone for the fabulous birthday surprises yesterday on my birthday, and in the mail before my birthday!  We celebrated my birthday with my family this past weekend, so last evening (my actual birthday) I actually had a Stampin’ Up! party at my friend Pat’s house.  So much fun!

Here’s Pat, with the surprise banner and cupcakes she had for me.  Wow, she knows me so well.  Cupcakes and stamping, what more could a girl want?

She even made sweet little tags for the fabulous cupcakes, using her Decorative Label Punch and a few other stamp sets, including the Four Frames stamp set, which matches the punch.  And of course these cupcakes needed tags, since they were fabulous flavors like Nutmeg Eggnog and Peanut Butter Chocolate.  Yum!

The cupcakes could hardly look more delicious!  Hmm… Wouldn’t a cupcake piled with frosting like these make a terrific image for a stamp??

Each of the ladies at the stamping party brought me a card — so sweet!  And Pat created this fun banner with her Decorative Label Punch, too.  She punched a folded piece of card stock so that each little punch piece could hang over the wires on her banner display.  How fun!

Looking for more party ideas? Here are a few more ideas from my blog.

If you have a birthday coming up, I highly recommend spending it with your stamping friends! Thanks again everyone — fabulous birthday treats!

Happy Stamping!

Spooky Scallop Circle Spiders: too cute to eat

Last week I promised to share my 2nd Stamp Club with Meg project from September.  Here’s the Spooky Spider creation, using the new 1 x 8″ Cellophane Bags (see them online) that I used last week on my other spider card.  These would be great quick treats for a classroom or for your neighbors or co-workers.

1” x 8” Cellophane Bags are perfect for all kinds of treats—including black licorice for spider legs!

  1. Cut two large black circles from the Scallop Circle #2 Die for Big Shot.  Sandwich three licorice ropes in Cello Bags between the scallop circles with tape.
  2. Create features: eyes, ¾” and 1” Circle Punches, teeth & feet are Pennant Builder Punch.
  3. To make legs: score strip of black card stock every ¾” with Simply Scored Scoring Tool and zig-zag fold.  Attach ‘feet’ at bottoms and adhere legs under top body scallop.

Want to know something funny?  I would have sworn that I stamped a little SPIDER from the Batty for You stamp set (see it online) to match my spider… but apparently not!  Guess that’s what happens when I stamp too late at night :-)

Happy Stamping (and spooking!)

Batty for Licorice in 1 x 8 Cello Bags

This past summer at the Stampin’ Up! Convention, demonstrators got a sneak peek look at the Holiday Mini Catalog.  What do demonstrators do with their free time?  Stamp, of course, and think about stamping!  Several of us spent an hour thinking of all the fun things that can fit inside the new 1″ x 8″ Cellophane Bags in the Holiday Mini Catalog (see them online).

One idea?  Licorice ropes!  Here’s a sweet (ha ha…) card for Halloween, using the Batty For You stamp set (see it online) and the Spider Web Impressions Folder (see it online).

The 1″ x 8″ Cello Bags are actually the perfect length for a full piece of licorice, but a card is only the length of a 1/2 piece.  If you’re only making 1 card, you’ll have to find something to do with that 2nd half of the licorice… (like eat it :-)

Happy Stamping!

Simple Treats: Designer Series Paper Favors

Need a quick pick-me-up treat for a school event or a coworker gift?  These are a snap to make: I’ll share 2 versions.  First, the favor uses the Two Tags Die for the Big Shot (see it online) to create a sweet shaped treat wrap.  Second, if you don’t have a Big Shot handy, go ahead and add it to your Wish List, then just use a simple Oval Punch to make these favors.

Version #1: Two Tags Die

  1. Cut two of the wide tags from a piece of Big Top Birthday Designer Series Paper (see it online).
  2. Attach the two tags at the bottom with Sticky Strip.
  3. Add your treat to a Small Cello Bag (see it online), fold over the top of the bag and secure bag with SNAIL adhesive.
  4. Bring the two tags up to the top and tie with Real Red Satin Ribbon at the top.  Add a Rhinestone Brad in the pre-punched hole.
  5. Stamp the cute bear (I love him!) from the Tagtastic hostess stamp set (see it online) in Real Red and punch him out with the Decorative Label Punch (see it online).  Attach with Stampin’ Dimensionals

And here is Version #2: Well Worn

Instead of the Two Tags Die, just fold 3 x 8″ piece of Designer Series Paper (Well Worn shown here — see it online).  Pinching the tops together, use the Large Oval Punch to punch through both sides at the same time.  Secure with ribbon.

For the tag on this version, I used the Four Frames stamp set (love it!) and the greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes (also love it!), but still punched with the Decorative Label Punch.

Happy Stamping!
