Delicate Doilies: Perfect Pennants Scallop Circle Medallions

New Big Shot Dies, new stamps and new Designer Series Papers! Here’s a fun medallion project, perfect for adding to gifts, or using as a clip decoration (like my clips from last week).

The new Flirtatious Specialty Paper (see it online) was die cut with the new Perfect Pennants Big Shot Die (see it online) to make the inside folded scallop.  Be sure to check the tutorial on my blog for directions on cutting and folding the zig-zag medallion.

The Melon Mambo Scallop Circle backing piece is cut with the Scallop Circle #2 Die (see it online).

The center of the medallion is stamped in Daffodil Delight ink with the new Delicate Doilies stamp set (see it online) and punched with the 1-3/8″ Circle Punch.  Perfect fit!

So many new supplies, so many cool stamping ideas!  This is one of the Stamp Club projects we’ll be making today at Stamp Club with Meg.

Happy Stamping!

Petal Cone Die Video Tutorial: A Mini Scrapbook Gift

Have you tried the Lots of Love Letterpress Plate yet?  Have you made a heart shaped card with the Petal Cone Die?  Would you like to see a Video Tutorial that demonstrates both? Yay!

I can’t say how much fun I had with this project–sometimes a project just comes along that makes me stop and realize how much I actually love to stamp. Do you know what I mean?

In any case, this project can be created as a greeting card (just add 1 page) or as a Mini Scrapbook Album for any occasion (add as many pages as you need).

Here are the Video Tutorials (Part 1 & Part 2) for creating this project on your own:

Here is the Supply List for this project.  All supplies are available for order online through your Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator — I’m happy to help you with an order if you don’t have a demonstrator! (click to view online):

Baby Needs Her Own Big Shot!

This past weekend I attended a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Retreat (thanks Kim!). Wow, a whole weekend to create and craft projects that I’ve been keeping in the back of my mind for weeks!  Just think… you’ll be invited next year if you’ve signed up to be a demonstrator in my LovenStampfuls Group! (only 13 days left to get that Greenhouse Gala Tote!)

One of my tasks for the weekend was to make some baby shower invitations.  I’ve seen several incarnations of this idea floating around, and decided to adapt it for the supplies I had on hand.

Here are the instructions:

  1. Fold a 4-1/4 x 8-1/2″ piece of Blushing Bride card stock in half.  Place it on the Scallop Circle die so that the folded edge is INSIDE the circle and won’t be cut by the die blade.  Cut with Big Shot.
  2. Trim out a triangle from the folded card as shown.  Add polka dot texture with the Textured Impressions Polka Dot Folder — only add to the front of the card by opening the card and placing just the front half in the folder.
  3. Cut the Whisper White trim piece with the Tasteful Trim Big Shot Die (Holiday Mini Catalog).  Trim to 4-1/4″ wide and attach.  Stamp with hearts from the Tiny Tags stamp set and add one punched Small Heart.
  4. Stamp two hearts from Tiny Tags and punch them out with the 1″ Circle Punch.  Attach with Stampin’ Dimensionals to create the wheels.

These are a really simple invitation and making 20 didn’t take all that long.  You could continue to embellish if you have more time, but I had that big stack of projects in the back of my mind… I look forward to sharing more with you in the next week or two!!

Not Your Mama’s Simply Scrappin Kit

Quick question… what’s the most overlooked value in the entire Stampin’ Up! catalog?

That’s an easy one to answer.  It’s definitely the Simply Scrappin’ Kits on pages 178 and 179, and by extension, the Quick Accents on page 176.  Really–think fast, when was the last time YOU used one of the Simply Scrappin Kits? (No fair answering if you were at my Beautiful Birds Class last night!)

Whether you’re a card maker or a scrapbooker, I encourage you to give these kits a try.  Each kit contains coordinating supplies to make your projects go together with ease:

  • 6 sheets of double-sided Designer Paper
  • 8 sheets of 12×12″ Textured Card Stock
  • 6 sheets (6 x 12″ each) of Card Stock-Weight Die Cuts (sticky backed!)

This one is the Love Birds kit, and I used to to create the Flip Album project for my Beautiful Birds Class.  If you’d like a kit, you can still get one “To Go”. (click here for details)

After making my Flip Album, I had quite a few Die Cuts left from the kit.  Not wanting them to go to waste, I decided to make a few cards.

Since the kit contains 12 x 12″ card stock, it’s easy to produce cards this size.  Just cut the card stock into 6×6″ squares and fold each in half.  These fit perfectly in the Small Open-End Envelopes from the Stampin’ Up! catalog.

And if you look carefully, you’ll see that I did have to add a bit of bling to each card.  Gotta love those sticky-backed Rhinestones!

Who’s Hooting Now? Two Step Owl Punch

Whether you like the whole bird motif or not, I think you’ll find it hard to resist this fabulous new Stampin’ Up! punch!!  Check out the new Two Step Owl Punch — it’s basically 6 punches for the price of one, which is not only a great deal, but also easy to store and super-convenient to use.

I think this is going to take a Video Tutorial to truly show the cool-factor, but for now you’ll have to settle for some pictures and tips.  (check my past Video Tutorials)

First of all, you need to see the actual punch to get an idea of how this works.

See how the little pieces of the Owl all fit together?  To use the punch you can either punch all the pieces in every color paper/card stock, or you can punch just the pieces you need.

For example, on the little Poppy Parade heart (see the sticky Jewels Basic Rhinestone?!), I stuck a little corner of Poppy Parade card stock into my punch and punched just the little heart piece.

Another favorite part of this On Board Briefcase mini album project is the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Extra Large punched from Peach Parfait card stock.

Were you wondering how I got that cool stamped design on the scallop punch piece?  Here’s my trick:

**TIP** To use the Homemade stamp as a border stamp, try Rocking & Rolling the stamp on your ink pad, rather than normal inking.  Check to be sure you ink the entire scallop and dot ring, plus a small amount of the center image, but don’t ink as far as the “homemade & to die for” sentiment.

This album is one of my July Stamp Club with Meg projects–we still have one session left in July–it’s Wednesday, July 12th.  Let me know if you’re in central Illinois and you’d like to join us!  You can see some other fun chipboard projects here, including another On Board Briefcase album here.

Petal Card Punch Pouch: keep your candy handy

Hands down, my favorite new Designer Series Paper: Greenhouse Gala!!  Easily, for sure, no doubt (until tomorrow when I start to play with my Sunny Garden DSP, right?)

But for now, I’m having fun getting ready for my Latest & Greatest Showcase & Idea Blitz, and today I made a collection of little treats to hand out, using the colors from Greenhouse Gala as my inspiration. Okay, the ‘official’ color of the red in this paper is Real Red, but I like to substitute the new In Color, Poppy Parade.  You’ll see it below in my project!

These all use the NEW Petal Card Punch (aka ‘Petal Card Extra Large Double Punch’).  The center square of each of the punched pieces measures about 1″, just to give you an idea of the size.

Here’s a close up of one of the pouches.  They each hold a single Snickers tiny size candy… I don’t have the package, so I can’t remember the actual name of this candy size.  Can anyone help me out? In any case, the stamped image on the front is from the fabulous Level 2 Hostess Stamp Set Cute By The Inch, stamped in Pear Pizzazz and cut out with scissors.

Want to learn how to make these cute little pouches at home?  I can help you!

Here’s what to do:

  1. Punch 2 Petal Card Punch pieces — be sure to press the punch down all the way to get a good embossed fold line around the edges
  2. Add a Mini Glue Dot to three of the petals on one piece
  3. Fit the two halves together, attaching with Mini Glue Dots at edges (**note, this works best if you wrap the two pieces around the candy, but it’s hard to get a good picture with the candy blocking the way!)

Have fun with these little guys–they’d be fabulous for wedding favors, party favors or as a set for gifts for friends or coworkers for pretty much any occasion.  You can check out some other ideas with candy, or try my previous wedding ideas.

Like the matching brads?  I do!  These are from the Brights Collection Brads, and just like the ‘yummy’ ribbon from yesterday, these look yummy, too.

I still have to get the candy for these little treats containers, so if you’re coming to my Open House on Saturday morning, you’ll just have to wait and see whether I found the square candies again!  (ah, the suspense)

A Lesson in Recycling: Nursery Necessities

As I’ve been working on changing out my retiring card stock colors (see the Color Renovation), I’ve been (trying) to do some sorting as I go.  It turns out that I have LOTS of packets of card pieces that I’d cut for past classes and home workshops.  If there were an extra 3-4 sets of pre-cut pieces, I’d stick them in a cello bag and put them in a box.

For my A La Card Class last week, it was finally time to pull from that box and put together some NEW card ideas for my OLD pre-cut packets.

This is a card I designed with a friend in mind–for her new baby girl.  You can check out the original card here, and see how I changed it.

The stamp set I used, Nursery Necessities, (113506) is on the Last Chance list, which means you can only order it until June 30th. (don’t forget about my extra Stampin Rewards for online orders in June!)

The card also includes a little Sneak Peek for the upcoming catalog (out July 1st!).  See the Scallop Circle Punch?  It’s a new size–a whopping 2 3/8″ Extra Large!!

As a demonstrator, you can actually order this punch NOW, along with several other upcoming items.  Otherwise you’ll need to wait til July 1st to add this new punch to your collection.  (Learn more about joining my LovenStampfuls family and the $99 June special!)

Printed Photos “To Go”, the Clear Envelope Solution

Ever find yourself headed out for a trip or visit with friends and realize that you need to take a few snapshots along with you? Okay, maybe you just carry your iPod with all your photos, but just pretend your aunt doesn’t like to look at those little technology thingies. Or pretend you don’t have an iPod.

Here’s one of my favorite solutions for take-along photos. It’s a Clear Envelope Photo Book!

These are super-easy to put together, not to mention inexpensive and quick. This sample was created with the new Printed Petals stamp set (coming in the July 1st NEW Idea Book & Catalog!) and it’s my swap for our LovenStampfuls APEX swap this month.

Can you see the ‘guts’ of the album here? Here’s what you need:

  • 5 x 7.5″ Pumpkin Pie cardstock, scored at 1″ on one short end
  • 5 x 8.5″ Rose Red cardstock, scored at 1″ on one end also
  • Clear Envelopes, adhesive removed and stacked on top of each other

And here are the directions:

  1. After stacking envelopes, adhere inside Rose Red cardstock just short of score line
  2. Tuck Pumpkin Pie cardstock into fold of Rose Red cardstock, secure with Jumbo Eyelets using Crop-A-Dile
  3. Decorate album cover

See? Pretty simple! A few minutes and you’ll be all ready to run out the door with your gorgeous showcase of photos.
